Chou Lien holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sculpture from the National Art Institute, a Master of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Design from Pratt Institute in New York.

Mr. Chou joined BPI in 1978. As Design Partner since 1986, he has been involved in the schematic design and custom fixture design. He has been Partner-in-Charge on a wide variety of award winning projects, including: Chung-Tai Chan Temple, the American Museum of Natural History Hall of Biodiversity and the Fossil Halls, the Ring of Fire Aquarium in Osaka, and the Country Music Hall of Fame. He is currently teaching in the M. F. A. degree program at the Parsons School of Design and has been the head instructor for the Industrial Technology Research Institute lighting design and energy conservation program since 1994. He has also lectured internationally on a wide variety of lighting related topics.

Mr. Chou is a member of both the Illuminating Engineering Society and the International Association of Lighting Designers. He is a Founding member of the Taiwan Association of Light Environment and a Special Member of the China Illuminating Engineering Society.
